6 TIPS OF KEEPING THE LIVING ROOM CLEAN AND ORGANIZED
The lounge area typically becomes centre stage when guests come over. That is why keeping it clean is vital to make a good impression.
I am aware that maintaining a clean-living room may be challenging, particularly during the busy summer months. After all, there’s a reason it’s named the living room. So now I want to share some advice with you that will help you finally get rid of your clutter. I will give you some suggestions to help you combine making the room appealing to the eye with keeping it functional for your lifestyle.
- Hide the clutter. Invest in closed storage if you have a tendency towards messiness. Open shelving and closed cabinets are common features of media storage units. Do keep an eye out for furniture that serves two purposes, such as ottomans that can be used as storage or end tables with drawers.
- Create minimalist spaces. I prefer minimalism. Creating small, uncluttered spaces can help the entire area feel more well-organized. Try cleaning up a few areas on your bookshelf where you only have a few carefully displayed items on display.
- Sort through your media. Organize your magazines and books by putting them in designated spaces. By doing this, the space will appear more ordered and it will be simpler to locate that book you have been wanting to read.
- Keep your coffee table visible. Flat surfaces tend to be landing zones for things like keys, newspapers and books. Trays can be great for holding these items, along with remotes and other things that may not have a permanent home. Baskets can also be tucked underneath to hold toys etc. Keeping the top of the table clean will make the rest of the space feel more organized.
- Tidy up before bed. Get in the habit of putting things away just before bed. This will make your life a whole lot easier when you wake up the next day. Put those shoes you kicked off when you just got home after a tiresome day in their place in the closet, fold up the blankets you have been using on couch, and bring empty glasses to the dishwasher. You will start the day off right and you will avoid the massive disaster that might otherwise accumulate if you let it go.
- Do a weekly deep-clean.This should not take very long if you have been sticking to the habit of tidying up every morning. Dust and move your furniture (especially that couch) and then clean the windows if you have an extra minute.
Lastly, make it a habit to periodically put the away items that are not in place whenever you bump into them. I.e A used cup on the coffee table (should be taken to the kitchen), toys lying idle on the carpet (should be hidden away in the toy box).
